The sun was losing its intensity and already cast a rosy glow behind a hill that framed the Badi Talab Udaipur. We weaved past hillocks and fields to finally emerge on to a road that circumscribed the lake. We hurtled along on a near-empty road raising a mini dust storm in our wake.

The driver had no inkling of the location of the lake and we had our GPS on for directions. The car shuddered and swerved as our over-enthusiastic driver negotiated the uneven and bumpy road like a Formula One driver! We held on for dear life as we hurtled towards our destination, the Badi lake in Udaipur. So off we went leaving the crowds and the city of Udaipur behind, across a bumpy and dusty road that promised to lead us to the serene paradise that was Badi lake Udaipur. The city of Udaipur has much to offer the casual tourist as well as the discerning traveler with its many palaces and lakes. So we found ourselves yet again on a road trip across the state of Rajasthan to explore some more places. It is one of our favorite states in India and has drawn us many times into its fold and rewarded us with precious moments to be treasured forever. Rajasthan, the wondrous state of India that draws tourists like a magnet is well known for its fortspalaces, lakesand of course the wide expanse of the Thar desert. The Badi Lake Udaipur is a relatively lesser-known but beautiful lake located about 12 kilometers from Udaipur City, a welcome break from the crowded city.
